Psalm 8; Romans 8:23-29; Matthew 17:1-15

Introduction

Majesty is  superlative, "God's majesty" which means, "mightier than everything." It is a declaration that, God has no rival. God is subject to no other. God reigns supreme. God's majesty is simply His goodness.

Praising God and celebrating His goodness throughout our days on earth is a life-transforming activity. This pulls our thought from the trials and hardships of life to give attention to the eternal goodness and mercy of our loving God.

God to be Blame

Atheists sometimes argue out to say that humanity created God. In actual fact, if humanity had her/his own way, we would kill God.

Notice how we blame God for every misfortune that occurs in life. We blame God to test his attributes; if God is all-knowing, why did He allow this to happen? If God exists, why do bad things happen to good people? We turn to blame God for all the evil on earth.

Beloved, the Word of God which is His complete revelation tells us, "For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly..." Romans 8:22-23 (ESV)

One thing that Paul set our attention to is that "the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." Romans 8:18 (ESV). Whiles the darkness of this earth brings all the humiliation to the Children of God we have hope, "For in this hope we were saved." Romans 8:24 (ESV)

In the midst of adversaries, David says that "Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger." Psalms 8:2 (ESV)

God's Majesty in our Weakness

When we humbly look through the pains and struggles we face today, it is worth celebrating the majesty of God. When our conclusion rests on what we see, then, we lose hope "For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience." Romans 8:24-25 (ESV)

Sometimes, we lose words of prayer when engulfed in what we cannot understand its source, why it came, and even when is it going to be over? Tears fill our hearts and words fail us. In such weakness, the Spirit of God helps us, "For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words." Romans 8:26 (ESV).

Precious one, we are limited to understand why we find ourselves in certain circumstances because our "why questions" are not with answers. But one thing comes to us, for our God in majesty, "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 (ESV) God always has plans for us. Your situation may have been caused by someone - a friend, family, stranger, or even an evil spirit, God turns things around for your own good.

"In all this, David declares "God's glorious majesty in all the earth whose glory is set above the heavens." (Psa. 8:1).

Beloved in Christ, you cannot celebrate what gives pain in your heart. We just have to focus on God's handy works to have faith in His majesty. David says, "When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?" Psalms 8:3-4 (ESV)

Celebrating His majesty brings us to realize our emptiness yet the love God has poured over us. "Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet". Psalms 8:5-6 (ESV)

The disciples realized this on the day of transfiguration when they saw Jesus' majestic atmosphere, "And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.”" Matthew 17:4 (ESV) He did not even look out for a tent for themselves because He felt their unworthiness. Humility will always lead us to celebrate God's majesty.

Have you considered that God raised you to where you are and you DON'T deserve the status He has given you? That is why in all situations, you need to celebrate God's majesty.

Conclusion

We celebrate God's majesty not just because all things are good and in our desired order, but because God's perfect will is at play at all times. He works things around and when we have strong hope in Him, He shall not put us to shame.

Shalom aleikhem...
