“For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God." (HCSB)
Valentine's day is historically noted for love. Legendry has it that this celebration emanates from the martyr of a man called Valentinus/Valentine. It suggests that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons, where they were often beaten and tortured.
According to one legend, an imprisoned Valentine actually sent the first “valentine” greeting himself after he fell in love with a young girl—possibly his jailor’s daughter—who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter signed “From your Valentine,” an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories all emphasize his appeal as an empathetic, heroic figure and—most importantly—love.
The Bible is historically known to have gone through the trying time in its translations. People like Martin Luther, John Wycliffe, etc. suffered to get the Bible to us in understandable languages. They were maltreated and others murdered, all because out of love.
By divine arrangements, God has brought together the celebration of Valentine and the Bible together to drum home to us that, the Bible is the Valentine that we must accept.
Jesus, the Gospel, out of divine love gave His life for you and me so that we can enjoy eternal life. Beloved in the Lord, the Bible is today signed to us by Christ as 'From your Valentine.'
I invite you to today believe and receive Christ as your Valentine today to always enjoy a life of LOVE. Fletcher sums up the entire Bible in one word as "LOVE". The Bible, my Valentine.
Do you know Jesus is your Valentine?
