IN JESUS' STEAD

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me."
Galatians 2:20 (NIV)

Beloved in Christ Jesus, like Paul the apostle, we should be crucified with Christ. We should die to our selfish desires and completely yield control of our lives to Jesus Christ Who lives in us.

Jesus wants us to rely completely on His indwelling presence. He wants us to have absolute trust that His love for us is so great that He gave Himself up for us. Every aspect of our lives should be centered upon our certainty that Jesus Christ lives in us.

The Presbyterian Catechism teaches us that "Because my sins have caused great suffering and painful death of my Lord Jesus, I should no longer delight in sin, but to denounce and abhor it and dedicate my whole life to the service of my Lord and Saviour, and seek to remain His forever, ready to suffer and die for His glory, that at the point of death, I will with joy and satisfaction say: Lord Jesus, for you I live, for you I suffer and for you, I die. Whether I live or I die, I am yours.O, Lord Jesus grant me eternal rest. Amen."

This is a well-learned statement by every true Presbyterian which is indicative that Christ is being formed in us. This is to say, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21 NIV

May you bear an unwavering faith because it is certain that the Lord Jesus Christ lives in your heart.

Shalom aleichem...
